its jumping out when i compile it

What does it mean? Could you explain it - if that's not a problem - using Oracle-related language?

Okay ... I think what we have here is the "mismatched tnsnames.ora files" problem. Please search this forum for 'tnsnames ifile' and review the threads.

Basically, when you installed the database on your PC an entry defining the database was created in the Database's Oracle Home but when you installed Forms on the same machine this information was not placed in the Form's Oracle Home.

you should have installed D2K first then Oracle. You will not face problem in that case.

Ashutosh,

I don't know which version of Oracle you are using but I have found that installing the database and then forms is the way to go. Of course, you have to get the tnsnames and listener files to match.
