A data block can display records either in horizontal or vertical. is there a way to display records in both? like below

record1 record2 record3 record4
record5 record6 record7 record8
record9 record10 record11 record12
......

Yes - give each 'item' on the screen a unique name and use your own loop to populate them.

i was looking for a simplest solution. thank you Divid for so many links. i will try it using cursors.

Ashu, the problem is to "provide secure links in form of matrix in two catagories (general&official) on single screen.

That sounds like a different problem. Why not have two blocks on the same canvas? One block is 'official', the other is 'general'.
