Need solutions for converting form5 to forms 9i [message #126167]

hi friends

can any one give me the solution for converting forms 5 to forms 9i.

is it possible to directly convert to 9i or need to convert into 6i and then forms 9i.

its very urgent

Hi,
You'll have to first convert yur forms from 5 to 6i and then you can convert them from forms 6i to 9i. There is no direct solution for converting forms from 5 to 9i.

Interesting. I would have said that most Forms 5 will convert to 9i/10g. I assume it must depend on the type of PL/SQL code that your forms contain.

Hi david,

I am in conversion project from forms 5 to forms 9i. Currently I am converting all my forms in version 5 to forms 6i. and i had planned to convert into forms 9i. please give some suggestion. do u have any documentation for conversion from forms 5 to any higher versions. wating for u'r reply.

Search this forum for 'migrate' or 'migration', then 'convert' or 'conversion'. There are quite a few threads available.

Basically, just remember to ALWAYS do a Ctrl-Shft-K to compile then Ctrl-T to generate. Do the PLLs first (no cyclic routines calls permitted). Then the OLBs, MMBs, and then the FMBs. Open the forms one at a time, in the order in which they are typically called by your system, fix the errors as they are displayed. If you convert them in order, you can start testing from the first screen.
