Can anybody tell the difference and significance of
1) Pre-form and When-new-form-instance?
2) Post-text-item and When-validate-item?

When to use this?

Perhaps you should investigate the differences in Forms Online Help System; it contains (more or less) all you wanted to know.

Pre Form Fires before the When new form instance.

When validate item fires only when we update or change the value of the item

Hi,

First of all i thank those who has shown interest and replied.

1. I have gone through the online help and still not able to understand the difference, rather i should say, significance of pre-form and when-new-form-instance.

2. I am not interested in knowing the trigger hierarchy. I am interested to know, what cannot be done in pre-form, which can be done only using when-new-form-instance and vice versa.

the main difference between the two is that you cannot navigate
in a pre-from trigger (restricted)
whereas you can in when-new-form-instance
so for example : go_block and execute-query will only work in WNFI not in PRF
