I've just posted the details of the latest client side certification of Forms 10g. This includes support for Windows 7 and IE8 running Oracle Forms.

The 10th of Feb the UKOUG are running a development SIG focused specifically at SOA. So, if you are based in the UK and looking too find out more about SOA and hook up with SOA experts then you better move quickly as there are only a few more places left.

I've just posted a HOW TO on Oracle Forms 11g calling a Web service. This is an update to an earlier example I had put together on calling an SMS from Oracle Forms 10g.

This might be nice functionality to add a to a Forms application where you are able to SMS a customer order or alert an administrator when something threshold is reached.

I've just noticed a load of more free ADF training dates confirmed for 2010. Covering US, Canada, mainland Europe and three dates in the UK. Details of the training on this page.

Interesting post from Sten. While some want to herald the end of Forms, it would seem that the development community still remain hugely active around the product.
And of course, with the 11.1.1 extended support date of 2017 and no plans to desupport Forms things still remain positive for those working with the product.

The following review of JDeveloper and ADF was published by Ovum. In particular they mention how JDeveloper should be considered on its sheer productiviy for Java and Java EE development. Click on the link and search on "sheer" for that particular quote.

I've seen this question come up a number of times recently so just to make clear. Oracle Forms 11.1.1.2 (which is the first patch set to 11g) is certified to run again Window7/IE8 browser clients.

Next week is the annual UK Oracle User Group. This year I will be presenting "Modernizing Oracle Forms: GoogleMaps, Web Services, and Web 2.0" and "How to become a Fusion Developer with no Java".

The Forms sessions is aimed at anyone who has an investment in Oracle Forms and wants to know Oracle's official recommendation on modernizing that investment. As always, I try to make my sessions as open as possible, so if you have any questions about Forms and want the official position from the guys who knows ;o) then come along.

My second session is aimed at anyone who wants to get up to speed on Fusion development with JDeveloper/ADF in as short a time as possible. If you though ADF/JDeveloper was all about low level coding and technology then think again! It is a two hour masterclass and I'll be building a fully functioning ADF application from start to finish.

I'll also be involved in a number of roundtable sessions including "Development Tools" and "Fusion/SOA".

I'm pleased to say that Oracle University have confirmed two 1-day masterclasses on Oracle ADF and Oracle JDeveloper to be delivered in Germany in Feb and the Czech Republic in April.
These courses will be aimed at rapidly getting developers up to speed in Oracle ADF and Fusion development using JDeveloper.
